Spring is in the air, and it’s been a wonderfully creative and rewarding month here at The Nest!
Creative Workshops
We’ve been incredibly lucky to have some fantastic local artists volunteer their time to teach us new skills. A huge thank you to:
-
Mollie for guiding us through beautiful felt collages
-
Mandy for teaching us the art of macramé
-
Stuart for introducing us to the joy of pompom making
-
Jane, who has been helping us with an exciting project—stay tuned for the big reveal soon!
High Sheriff Award
We are absolutely thrilled to have won the High Sheriff Award in recognition of the amazing work being done with young people here at The Nest. Hannah and Stephen had a wonderful afternoon at The Apex in Bury St.Edmunds to receive this special honor. A huge thank you to everyone who supports our mission!
Community Fundraising
We are so grateful to the Bungay Dance Circle, who generously supported The Nest through their recent Danceathon, raising an incredible £500! Your hard work and kindness mean the world to us.
Upcoming Charity Event
A huge thank you to Vale Farm, who have decided to support The Nest through their annual horse ride event on Saturday, April 5th. We truly appreciate their generosity and can’t wait for this fantastic event!
A Special Grant for Outdoor Projects & Training
We’re delighted to share that the Tim White Community Foundation has once again supported us with a fantastic £5,000 grant! These funds will go towards our polytunnel and outdoor vegetable and flower growing, as well as the much-needed renovation of our chicken and duck enclosures.
Even more exciting, another grant they generously funded, a special training opportunity for one of our young people, helping them build essential skills for their future career in arboriculture. This was an incredible chance for them to gain hands-on experience and take a big step towards their goals—thank you, Tim White Community Foundation, for making this possible!
Celebrating Young Voices
We are incredibly proud of two of our young people who took part in the Kooth Future Council project this month! They attended two online creative workshops, including one with poet and rapper Dan Whitlam, where they explored creative writing, followed by an in-person workshop in London. There, they worked with Luke Vernon to learn how to create engaging social media content and with illustrator Eva Malley.
All of these workshops focused on empowering young people and exploring why mental health matters. We are so proud of their dedication and creativity in using their voices for such an important cause!
Thank you to everyone who continues to support The Nest—it’s because of you that we can keep making a difference. Here’s to an exciting month ahead!
