Three weeks into the new term, and The Nest has been busy. As the weather turns cooler and wetter, we’re excited to introduce more indoor activities for our young people to enjoy. So far, we’ve had a pony grooming session with Amy and a fantastic yoga class with Yoga Jo. Looking ahead, we have a full schedule of autumn activities, including some delicious cooking sessions using seasonal vegetables grown right here at The Nest—anyone for pumpkin pie?
But something still felt missing from our Nest family, so this week we welcomed two new calves! They’ve settled in wonderfully, and while they don’t have names just yet, our young people are having a great time getting to know them.
In addition to our new animals, we've also welcomed many new faces, and we understand how intimidating it can be to begin somewhere unfamiliar and meet new people. However, we’re excited to get to know all our newcomers and help them feel at home with us. It’s also wonderful to welcome back many returning young people and see how far they've come. They serve as a reminder to our beginners that they, too, were once in their shoes, and that everything will be okay. Watching our young people support one another is truly inspiring
We’ve had a number of wonderful visitors in the past two weeks, including a team from BT who volunteered for a day to give our containers a fresh coat of paint. We also had a visit from Stuart at The Woolpatch, who is generously selling his knitted Olympi’hens from his shop to help raise funds for The Nest. Check out his website www.thewoolpatch.com to find out more. Stuart will also feature The Nest in his October YouTube Live, which we are really excited about!
Our founder, Hannah, along with Alice, a former young person of The Nest who is now a volunteer, gave a presentation at the Youth Focus Suffolk conference. This event provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work we do at The Nest and connect with other local organisations. Collaborating with fellow youth services allows us to share knowledge, experiences, and resources, ensuring that we can better support and guide our community together.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue building connections, supporting our young people, and welcoming more opportunities for growth. Whether through our upcoming activities or collaborations with local groups, there’s a lot to look forward to this season. As always, we’re grateful for the ongoing support from our community, and we can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring for everyone at The Nest.
