November News from The Nest

November News from The Nest

Our two calves have settled in beautifully and are a joy to see each morning as everyone arrives at The Nest. While we thought the calves completed our little family, we've decided that just one more will make us truly complete. Stay tuned for more news about this exciting addition next month! 🐄

Our young people have been hard at work preparing items to sell at the Woodbridge School Christmas Fair on Saturday, 7th December. You'll find a fabulous selection  of gifts and decorations, including hand-painted wooden trees, hot chocolate cones, candles, honeycomb, and much more! Be sure to visit us and check out these wonderful creations.

We’re thrilled to share that our kitchen is now fully functional! Our young people have already enjoyed baking mince pies, biscuits, honeycomb, and even a birthday cake. Several have completed AQA certificates in cooking, and we can’t wait to explore more culinary projects. To celebrate the end of term, we’ll enjoy a Christmas lunch together, made possible by our amazing new kitchen.

This month, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kathryn, a local beekeeper, back to The Nest. She taught our young people about her fascinating work with bees and showed them how to roll wax candles—perfect for our Christmas fair! Our fantastic volunteer Martine has been teaching us how to make beautiful Christmas decorations using air-drying clay and foraged materials, while our Operations Coordinator, Frankie, will soon guide us in making fresh wreaths using her floristry skills. Meanwhile, Stephen, our Farm Manager, has been sharing his woodworking expertise by crafting wooden Christmas trees with our young people.

These are just a few examples of the abundance of knowledge and skills our volunteers and team bring to inspire and teach our young people every day.

Next week, we’ll host another Parents/Carers Evening with our Trustee and Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Beth Mosley. We believe in supporting not only our young people but also those around them. This evening provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to come together, share experiences, and know they’re not alone.

Finally, our Christmas cards are now on sale! A pack of 8 costs £5. To order, simply email us at hello@thenestfarms.org.

Thank you for your continued support
